Having launched in 2005, Byet Internet has grown to be one of the largest free web hosting providers in the world today.
Over the years, Craig, Byet Internet’s CEO has been a trusted advisor and I’m delighted to introduce him as our new Reseller in Focus!
We spoke to Craig about his foray into the Web Services industry as well as the unique business model on which Byet Internet operates. Below is his entire interview.

Q1) When did you enter the Web Services Industry and where do see your business going?
We entered the web services industry in 2005 when there were very few free hosting providers and most offered small hosting plans/quotas. Since then we have grown to be probably the largest free hosting provider in the internet.
Even though we started providing only free hosting, we have now expanded our service range to provide various paid ‘shared hosting’ plans using cPanel, WHM Reseller Plans, VPS Servers using ZEN and OpenVZ and proudly supply many clients with Dedicated Servers, managed by our team.
Q2) Could you tell us some interesting stories or anecdotes about your company?
We own and manage our own servers in a Datacenter facility within minutes of our head office & support operations. We’ve always had a lot of fun provisioning new servers and installing them into the Datacenter – particularly larger servers of 4u that require three men to lift and carefully place into rack. 🙂
Q3) Byet Internet has a unique business model. What is the idea behind it & what specific challenges do you face?
Before Byet Internet was born, we used various other free hosting providers for hobby projects but we soon realised that the offerings, reliability, speed and quality of the free hosting providers at the time was not very good. This is where the the idea of Byet Internet really came about as we knew we could provide a better service.
We have since expanded to provide a wide range of free and paid hosting reseller services and we continue to develop our service by adding more and more features, whilst expanding and upgrading our servers.
Q4) Tell us a little about doing business in the UK. What are the most unique aspects of the market?
Whilst we are based in the UK, our customers are in every country of the world, with a large customer base in the USA and Asia. We are also finding emerging economies to be a good area of growth.
Q5) Is there any advice that you’d like to give to new entrants in the Industry?
Constant innovation is the key to our success. Without constantly creating and evolving our services and processes, it would be impossible to stay in business.
One of the main challenges with scaling a hosting business is to know how to prevent as well as efficiently handle abuse and service stability issues which is something new entrants should be concerned about.
Q6) You have been with ResellerClub since 2008. What do you think has changed over the years?
ResellerClub has noticeably improved the look of the Orderbox panel and websites which we interact with. We see a constant evolution of the look and functionality of the services which is great!
Q7) How has having ResellerClub as a partner helped your business?
Reliable consistent pricing and a solid API has allowed us to grow our business and provide quality domain registration services to our clients.
