RC Poll: Should All Promos Be Opt-in Promos?

Published by Rohan | Filed under Domains, Promotions | On October 13th, 2009

After the .COM @ $7.39 Promo where we introduced the first ever Opt-in Promo, we are considering running all Promos in the same way.

For those of you who don’t know what an Opt-in Promo is:
An Opt-in promo is offered through the ResellerClub Promo Engine however, it is not automatically activated. If you wish to opt-in for the Promo, you need to manually set your pricing in the Promo Engine for it to be activated.

This is unlike our previous promos where all offers were automatically activated with your Selling Price as 10% above the Promo Cost Price.

Here’s how we see this option:

Pros:

  • You only sign up for Promos that you want to offer.
  • You will not need to manually end a Promo; unless you have opted-in for it and want to end it before the Promo end date.
  • The promo starts at the Selling Price that you want it to start at.

Cons:

  • If you miss a Promo announcement, you may end up missing the promo all together.
  • You will need to manually activate all Promos.

So let us know what you would prefer by registering your vote on sidebar widget, under ‘RC Poll’. As always, if you have any feedback or suggestions, simply leave us a comment below this post.

    Yes! Yes! Yes!

    For these reasons:
    1. The current promo system is not fully automated anyways. The reseller is required to reload the supersite and partnersite whenever a promo is activated. Better to make it opt-in so that resellers have better control.

    2. Resellers are not given an opportunity to set their selling price before a promo is launched. This means we need to assign someone to wait and monitor when the promo is activated and quickly change the promo pricing. This is a major flaw with the current promo system.

So, what is next promo after .com
can we expect all TLD with such promo!!

  3. Jason (http://www.leapgo.com) says:

I agree. For us being US based the fact that we have promo info for .IN etc takes focus away from our current .com promo. Also, opting in means people are more proactive and logging in to their reseller club admin. This can only improve people’s attention to detail and supersites overall.

  4. Alex () says:

    NO!

I do not want to spend my time activating promo.
I’d like to receive them automatically w/o spending my time.

  5. Hakan () says:

    Definitely Yes.

    I completely agree with Oliver.
Opt-in Promo is much more advantageous for us.

  6. Intekhab Hussain (http://www.domaindokan.com/) says:

    Yes!

    +1 to Oliver.

  7. Steve () says:

If resellers were given a pre-promo period a week or at least a few days before the promo to set pricing, then we wouldn’t have to be waiting until the very moment it appears in the control panel. Therefore, maximizing the time we have the promo turned on.

  8. Rick (http://www.wsdreg.com) says:

Question: Why not just allow a setting that says ‘automatically run promotions’ that we can choose to on or off?

It wouldn’t be that hard and would be best for all members. Clearly by the poll results its a 50/50 draw.

  9. Bob (http://www.usdomainsplus.com) says:

    2 for Oliver..
We have enough todo just marking the products. One less thing todo is great. However, to each their own, we should have the option to select auto or not.

  10. AndreS (http://www.xternet.co.uk) says:

I think is better with the opt-in option … is as Oliver say i agree with him too and what Jason say make an point … for example i am in Europe and try to sell to the European people the in promo is not helping me with nothing people from here look to buy an domain for his country or .org, .com, .eu, .net the in domain for some of us takes focus away from our current promotion i opted in for the in promo but i shouldn’t do it since i sell in euro no one from India will not buy this is my opinion also some new stuff will make an difference like adding the dedicated servers on our agenda too the packages from The Planet made (Special Offer for ResellerClub Partners) and about the webhosting package for example to be able to give 1 domain for free for those who buy hosting with us not all the domains just the importants domains this will atract more people … or with 1 domain an free hosting for example with 50 mb space and 2 or 3 gb bandwidth and on that hosting package to put an banner with our company for example …. dunno what to say ideas are many. Thank for listening.

  12. FAM Info Systems (http://www.fam-is.com) says:

    A big NO

if we are travelling or we are out of the reach for machines we wish that our customers and resellers should get the benefits of all the promos so it should not be an OPT IN promos

  13. AndreS (http://www.xternet.co.uk) says:

    Hello,

Again … i have an new idea … for example an contest for the coming customer and the present customers … is just an idea … when ResellerClub give us some offers for some of the domains we sell i think it will be an great idea to add some how an contest for all of us and to be added as opt-in or to give us on the control panel an link from where to enable or disable the contest … the contest should be with Submission Deadline look like on the main page of the web site and let us choose what we will give for free for those who will buy from us on that period, like the 1 st place will be eligible to take an free domain for 3 years, 2 nd place 1 domain for 2 years and the last place that will be the 3 let`s say will get 1 free domain for 1 year or to add for the 1 st place another 3 years on his domain, 2 nd place 2 years and soo on i think it will be an great idea and under the Submission Deadline time to be put an link for those who are eligible for the contest … the point is our current customers for example will be tempted to buy another domain to get in the contest as well and for those who use another website as the main site if they want to add this feature on his site to be able for enabling the feature and to get an link with the code for his website. That is all for the moment. Thanks.

  14. AndreS (http://www.xternet.co.uk) says:

Also the the winners to be selected automatically.

  15. Erickson Soetedjo (http://www.dsitus.com) says:

    Hello,

I think the idea, that resellerclub must choose the opt-in on of off is better.

Because in some country, price is not a problem, if the customer royal in one company, is ok if the price is higher or lower.

But in my country, the customer is looking the best price, so if i’m late to change the price, the customer will run in other company, it’s bad for business.

And about the price percentage, i hope we can set it to.

    Thank’s
